How to Combat Obsession

Is your life ruled by your obsessive behavior?

Are you hooked on unwanted thoughts, feelings, routines and rituals?

Combat your obsessions and be free by changing your thoughts. Here's how...

An obsession is effectively a thought or habit that is in repetition mode. You probably realize that the obsessive thoughts are ruining your day- perhaps even ruining your life. After all, obsessions steal your time, happiness and freedom. So, the first step to bringing about a change is recogizing that your obsession is self-created. This means you have a choice to break the cycle of obsessive thoughts and routines. Often, the realization that you can change your thoughts is enough to bring about a change in your behavior.

Be more mindful. Notice when your obsession starts to kick-in. When you practice self-awareness, you can make a choice to change your thoughts or focus on something else to break the unwanted habitual cycle.

Use meditation to develop your awareness and to pay more attention to your thoughts and feelings. As you do so, you will identify the triggers to your obsession and will be in a better state of mind to combat those triggers.

Create new positive thoughts and habits to replace those that are negative and obsessive. Your mind is effectively a tool or program that can be trained. It's all about establishing new patterns of thought and new routines.

Realize that obsessive thoughts can be eliminated as soon as you make a choice. Recognize that your obsessions aren't supporting you. See those negative thoughts and rituals from a new perspective.

As soon as you change your thoughts, you begin to change your reality. Need some help? Take a look at the Stop OCD course, which will give you the tools and support to combat obsession for good.

6 Great Relaxation Techniques

If you struggle to unwind from the demands of work, challenges or stress, start making time for relaxation.

Here are 6 effective techniques that will help you cultivate a calm and relaxed state of being...

1# Breathe! For the next 10 minutes, just focus on each in and out breath. As you do so, feel the tension and stresses of the day dissolve. Feel your muscles and mind relax. When you are present with your breathing, you are able to relax into the moment. Give it a try!

2# Treat yourself to a blissful aromatherapy massage or reflexology. Allow any conflicts or negative thoughts to simply melt away.

3# Sing in the shower! Yes, this really is effective at helping you unwind. Make sure the song is upbeat. Dance and get into the mood of the song, but watch you don't slip on the soap! ;-)

4# If you need some help to unwind, try listening to a meditation or relaxation CD.

5# Go for a walk or work-out at your gym. It will help you feel more upbeat and vital.

6# Play a fun game, watch a comedy film, or do something that makes you laugh. It's almost impossible to hold onto stress and tension when you're laughing. Try it!

Finally, remember to hang up your worries outside your home. When you return from work, step out of your tension as if you're removing your shoes at the door. Allow only positive and uplifting thoughts or feelings into your space.

Embrace the wonderful uplifting calm feelings that arise when you're fully relaxed.

Have a peaceful day!

Make Your Dreams a Reality!

Are you settling and 'making do' in life?

Wish you could be having more fun, success and adventure?

Life is for living and you can make your dreams come true. Here's how...

Make two lists titled 'What have I got to lose?' and 'What have I got to gain?' Be completely honest with yourself. What do you have to give up to follow your dream? What will you gain by letting go of those blocks and obstacles?

When you dig deep into your sub-conscious, you'll find that 'fear' is one of the limiting thoughts that is holding you back from making your dream a reality. When you are fearful of what might happen or of what might change, you stop yourself from truly living your fullest potential.

You can start your journey to making your dream come true by releasing the negative self-talk that is holding you in chains.

Start focusing your energy on the positive thoughts.

What's the best that can happen? Focus on what you can gain from living a life that makes you dance with joy.

You see, the real secret to being successful in life rests in the quality of your thoughts. When you let go of self-sabotaging mind chatter, you clear the way for all possibilities.

Use positive affirmations throughout your day to support you on your journey... affirmations such as 'I can fulfil my dream' or 'I am capable of success'. These subliminal messages work subconsciously and change your belief system for the better.

So, get out of your own way! Realize that You are amazing. Realize that you are capable. Realize that you can create the life of your choosing.

Make room for what you're passionate about and believe in what you can achieve.

Wishing you an inspiring and meaningful day!

How to Achieve a Youthful Glow

Is stress and worry taking its toll on you?

Are you looking jaded and feeling old before your time?

Age is a state of mind and, with a bit of attention, you can achieve a youthful glow naturally. Here's how...

# Ditch those frown lines by releasing the stuff that causes them. Acknowledge worry, fear, pressure, and hardship, but don't let your response to life's challenges drain you. Change what you can change and release what you can't. Choose a joyful, positive approach.

# Take good care of yourself. Are you eating and drinking healthily? Are you gaining adequate exercise and sleep? Do you have a good life-work balance? When life is busy, it's easy to forget to nurture yourself. Make time for you.

# Are you carrying the weight of unresolved emotion? When you dwell on past events or 'what-ifs?', you allow your thoughts to steal the joy of the present moment. Unresolved emotion can age you in more ways than one. It can affect your physical and mental health. It can also make you look tired, old, and sad. Take action on your emotional well-being. Once you release those negative emotions, you will radiate a youthful presence.

# Treat yourself to a total well-being make-over. Most people thrive from some well-deserved pampering and attention. A good hair cut, a facial, an aromatherapy treatment, a new outfit... such treats on a regular basis will help maintain your youthful glow.

# Smile and laugh more - even if you don't feel you want to right now. Look for something that will naturally trigger a smile or laughter. It will raise those 'feel-good' hormones. When you feel good, you look good, too!

How you 'perceive' and 'respond' to life really matters. When you're at ease with yourself and the world, you will glow and look young.

Wondering whether there are any secrets to looking fantastically young? Take a look at The Five Rituals and see if it works for you.

Have a wonderful, joyful day!
