How to Combat Obsession

Is your life ruled by your obsessive behavior?

Are you hooked on unwanted thoughts, feelings, routines and rituals?

Combat your obsessions and be free by changing your thoughts. Here's how...

An obsession is effectively a thought or habit that is in repetition mode. You probably realize that the obsessive thoughts are ruining your day- perhaps even ruining your life. After all, obsessions steal your time, happiness and freedom. So, the first step to bringing about a change is recogizing that your obsession is self-created. This means you have a choice to break the cycle of obsessive thoughts and routines. Often, the realization that you can change your thoughts is enough to bring about a change in your behavior.

Be more mindful. Notice when your obsession starts to kick-in. When you practice self-awareness, you can make a choice to change your thoughts or focus on something else to break the unwanted habitual cycle.

Use meditation to develop your awareness and to pay more attention to your thoughts and feelings. As you do so, you will identify the triggers to your obsession and will be in a better state of mind to combat those triggers.

Create new positive thoughts and habits to replace those that are negative and obsessive. Your mind is effectively a tool or program that can be trained. It's all about establishing new patterns of thought and new routines.

Realize that obsessive thoughts can be eliminated as soon as you make a choice. Recognize that your obsessions aren't supporting you. See those negative thoughts and rituals from a new perspective.

As soon as you change your thoughts, you begin to change your reality. Need some help? Take a look at the Stop OCD course, which will give you the tools and support to combat obsession for good.
