6 Great Relaxation Techniques

If you struggle to unwind from the demands of work, challenges or stress, start making time for relaxation.

Here are 6 effective techniques that will help you cultivate a calm and relaxed state of being...

1# Breathe! For the next 10 minutes, just focus on each in and out breath. As you do so, feel the tension and stresses of the day dissolve. Feel your muscles and mind relax. When you are present with your breathing, you are able to relax into the moment. Give it a try!

2# Treat yourself to a blissful aromatherapy massage or reflexology. Allow any conflicts or negative thoughts to simply melt away.

3# Sing in the shower! Yes, this really is effective at helping you unwind. Make sure the song is upbeat. Dance and get into the mood of the song, but watch you don't slip on the soap! ;-)

4# If you need some help to unwind, try listening to a meditation or relaxation CD.

5# Go for a walk or work-out at your gym. It will help you feel more upbeat and vital.

6# Play a fun game, watch a comedy film, or do something that makes you laugh. It's almost impossible to hold onto stress and tension when you're laughing. Try it!

Finally, remember to hang up your worries outside your home. When you return from work, step out of your tension as if you're removing your shoes at the door. Allow only positive and uplifting thoughts or feelings into your space.
