When Giving Up is the Best Option

Today, on your self-development journey, dedicate time to uncovering the thoughts, habits and beliefs that do not support you.

Ask yourself: What is holding me back? What is stealing my time and creating negative energy? What am I doing that is stopping me from being happy and successful?

Dig deep and be honest with yourself. If necessary, make a list. Once you've identified what isn't supporting you, it's time to take action. Here's what you do ...

You give up what isn't helping you. 

If you think that giving up a habit is almost impossible or you haven't got the will-power, then change your beliefs. It's all in YOUR mind. If you really want a better life, you have to give up the stuff that doesn't nurture you. 

Be resolute and believe that you can. Realize the benefits. Giving something up is easy when you are committed to making positive changes in your life. 

What negative habits and beliefs are you holding on to? 

Are you a smoker? Is smoking affecting your health and ruining your social life? You bet it is! Maybe it's time to give up smoking

Is your obsessive behavior making life difficult for you and your loved ones? Is it stealing your energy and time? Most likely! Well, perhaps it's time you really did something about your obsessive compulsive disorder and give up the behavior patterns causing it. Yes, you really can! 

Frustrated by your shyness? Feel like your lack of confidence is holding you back? Then it's time to give up the introverted you and be the life and soul of the party. 

Walt Disney once said that change is inevitable, but growth is optional. And, sometimes, in order to grow, you have to give up what's holding you back. 

So, step into your power and reclaim your life. 

The only time to give up those negative thoughts, beliefs and habits is NOW!

Change How You Feel!

When you've had an argument, do you cling on to the anger and frustration it causes for hours or even days on end?

If you've had a tough day, what do you do about all that accumulated tension? Do you allow it to sit heavily on your shoulders so you carry the weight of the world?

When you feel low, tense or emotionally overwhelmed ... when you allow the day's hassles or arguments to ruin your leisure and relaxation ... it's time to do something about it. Here's what to do ...

It's simple. You change how you feel. 

It begins with being mindful of your thoughts. 

1) Be aware of how you're feeling. 

2) Realize you have a choice about how you're feeling. 

3) Choose to let go of the angst and anxiety ... any thought that doesn't support you. 

4) Simply change how you feel. 

Sounds too easy? Well, it's as easy as you choose to make it. 

Recognize the thoughts and feelings you're holding right now. If they are causing you (and others) pain, anxiety or tension, they aren't supporting you. 

If they are stopping you from relaxing and enjoying your leisure time, they aren't nurturing you. 

Let go of those unsupporting thoughts and emotions. Detach from whatever situation is creating issues for you. And change how you feel.

Be Awesome!

There are around seven billion people on the planet today and every single one has the ability to be absolutely amazing. Despite this, most people don't realize or actualize their potential for being awesome. Some shy away in fear of their greatness while others just don't believe in their power to change life for the better.

So, as one of those billions, what are you doing to realize your greatness? How can you become the awesome individual that you already are? Read on to find out ...

Being awesome requires strength and audacity so be prepared to embrace change and see the world from a new viewpoint.

Once you step into your potential and start living your truth, extraordinary opportunities arise. This is when you'll truly start living (rather than existing or surviving).

Think Before You React

What do you do when you're having a bad time or when something goes wrong?

Do you become irritated, frustrated, angry or depressed? Do you start feeling sorry for yourself or complain about why bad things always seem to happen to you?

How you choose to react to any unpleasant event will make a difference to how you feel for the rest of your day and even for the rest of your life. Let me explain ...

We all have to deal with unpleasant situations. Things go wrong. Stuff happens. That's life! How you deal with those moments, however, can impact your well-being.

You can choose to react negatively to what happens and dwell in hours upon hours of negative thoughts and emotions but what good will this do?

All that negative energy will not change what's already happened. All it does is create inner turmoil for you.

So, think before you react and change the program!

Choose a more positive approach.

Be mindful of the feelings surfacing when you're having a bad time. If there's nothing you can do to change the situation, simply let go.

Instead, choose to accept the situation as it is and do not feed it with negative thoughts or emotions. Accept and let go. Even better, try to find the positive in a challenging situation. A good way to do this is through humor, where appropriate.

It takes a little practice to change your thoughts and responses, especially if you've always reacted negatively to a negative situation. Once you choose to react in a more positive way, you'll improve your sense of well-being and get through the day's challenges without angst.

So be mindful of your thoughts and emotions. Watch your self-talk. Think before you react.
